Getting married on A Greek island definitely has its own charm and after you see this amazing celebration of love that photographer Yiannis Sotiropoulos sent our way, I am sure you will also agree! The lovely couple got married in the San George Catholic Church on the beautiful island of Paros and as the bride mentions: “We had visited Paros three times previously and fell in love with the Greek island. We wanted to share this very special time in a place we love with the people we love. And we wanted our Irish friends and family to see this very special place….”
“The best decision was having our wedding in Greece. It was quite stressful as we can’t speak the language and had to trust that things would be done. It also meant a lot of travel for our friends and family. But it was absolutely worth it!”
“We are both from the same neighborhood and were friends when we were children. We got together for about two weeks when we were fourteen and then lost contact… We met again by accident in a night club in town when we were thirty-two and the rest is history…”
“I found my wedding dress in London as was shopping with my bridesmaids who live there. But when I came home I went searching for it in Dublin and found it in a boutique nearby. It’s a La Sposa dress – a fitted, sweetheart strapless dress in lace…”
“He proposed on Christmas morning which is my favorite time of the year. Down by the pier where we love to go for walks… The sun was shining and it was lovely. It only took him 7 years!”
“We wanted the wedding to have a very romantic, elegant and fairy tale feel. I chose dusky pink and white as the main colors…”
“The designer was responsible for choosing the flowers in my bridal bouquet but I have her references for what I liked – not perfectly shaped but a bit wilder and more rustic”.
“The best moment of our wedding was walking down the aisle and seeing Fergal. I was very nervous so he put me at ease right away…”
Siobhan’s advise to all the brides planning their dream wedding: “Only if I was asked! But I would tell her to listen to her own mind and heart. Everyone has an opinion but it is hers that matters. If she enjoys her day everyone else will!”
“The entrance to the venue was decorated with romantic lighting, candles and lanterns. Because the back drop was so beautiful, I wanted the décor to be minimal so as not to take away from it. Our tables were set around the pool area which was decorated with lanterns and floating candles. String lights surrounded the entire area. The tables and chairs were plain white. The tables themselves had a circular mirror at the centered with three different sized glass vases filled with water and floating flowers and candles. Flip flops and pashmenas were provided in case of it getting colder and for dancing”
“I also loved when Fergal and I walked into the venue for the first time – it was absolutely stunning!”
