According to Vana, the wedding planner fromWhite Ribbon Boutique Events «The inspiration for the rustic wedding theme in Kea derived from the natural beauty of the island. Based on that, for the wedding decoration we used natural elements, wild flowers such as chamomile and several traditional objects from a greek household». A wonderful touch to the decor was added with the window shutters. Also the decorative wreaths with amaranthus added a shabby chic feel to the Greek island wedding.

A wedding ceremony held at a small island church… now isn’t that a dream for most brides? The quaint Greek island church of St. Symeon is situated on mountain and has a breathtaking view of the endless sea. Ioanna was escorted to the church by her father while local musicians played traditional Greek wedding songs.

Gloriosa by Alice Temperley… A delicate work of art by the British designer, made from silk lace and tulle. The wedding dress had a vintage glamor style and it was matched to perfection with the long tulle veil. The elegant dress was an excellent choice for a Greek island wedding in Kea.

Ioanna is from Greece and she and Matt decided to have a Greek island wedding in Kea. As the bride told us:«My parents have a family home in Kea and I have spent many of my summers there, so the island has a special place in my heart».

Matt chose to wear a grey Armani suit, white shirt and a modern tye in a light blue color.

A lovely wedding reception followed in a traditional Greek restaurant in Koundouro, one of the most graphic villages of the island.

The rustic table decoration had a lovely combination of wild flowers: amaranthus and chamomile. The hand made weddind favor was an adorable jar with traditional greek wedding candy called koufeta.

A unique idea for the table numbers were the wooden sewing hoops that were used instead of the traditional table number holders. I love this idea!

«The advice I would share with other brides is try to get the wedding day fully organised, allocate responsibilities and a person to answer guests questions on the day (in my case, my wedding planner Vana was fantastic in planning everything to the last detail and being on call on the actual day itself). This will allow you to enjoy the day to the fullest».

Ioanna told us: «Our Greek island wedding in Kea was quite complex to plan as my husband and I are based in London. It takes a lot of effort and it can be stressful at times but it is worth it if it’s what you want!»
