Chryssi and Niall planned their romantic island wedding on the very same place they vacationed together as a couple for the first time together… the island of Sifnos. “We fell in love with the island on our first visit and when we went back to Sifnos after five years we were equally blown away by its beauty and rawness”.
Chryssi and Niall met… at work… fell in love and after five years they decided to take the next big step in life together.
For the couple, the days before their island wedding were very important to them: “The emphasis for us was not so much on the day of the wedding but the whole three days that our friends and family spent together. This is the reason why we called this occasion a gathering instead of a wedding”.
The groom’s slim lined suit was from the Paul Smith collection.
The bride got prepared for her special day at the Nymfes Hotel, located in the astonishing Gulf of Kamares.
Simple and discreet was the bridal makeup that Chryssi chose and it really emphasized her natural beauty and gave her an elegant look. Her bridal hair style followed the same concept: tied beautifully at the back of her neck, revealing her shoulders. Excellent hair style choice for an island destination wedding.
The romantic Pronovias wedding gown was a lovely creation with silk and satin layers was a perfect fit for the beautiful bride.
The ceremony took place at Panagia Chrisopigi, an all-white church that is situated on a rock. The picture of this quaint church on the rock surrounded by the ocean is one that is known all over the world.
The bridal bouquet with baby’s breath flowers, white roses and lavender were chosen for special reasons. As the bride mentions: “The flowers we chose for our wedding day had symbolic meaning to us. Lavender represents remembrance which was what we wanted our friends and family to take back home with them; the memories of this special day, the get-together of the two families and most importantly a fun and memorable holiday on this Greek island. We also chose rosemary that represents the devotion to one another”.
The bride’s advice to the other couples planning their own wedding: “Keep it simple and do not expect perfection because it does not exist in a real wedding. It is important to enjoy the entire journey and to make sure that everyone has a good time. All the rest are little add-ons that are nice to have but it is not what people will remember the most”.
The wedding décor was kept simple since the couple did not want to lessen the natural island beauty and magnitude of the church.
Some of the most special moments for the blissful and heavenly in love couple were the days before the island wedding that the two families spent together, especially since they have never met before this occasion.
“The most memorable moment of our island wedding was the walk that Niall and I did after the ceremony on our way to the reception. There is a beautiful trail from Chrysopigi to Fasolou along the coastline that gave us the chance to spend some time alone and absorb what just happened. Spending this time together and doing what we normally do on our holidays, which is hiking in the Greek islands, was a beautiful, special and very personal moment for both of us”.
