Okay we’re convinced! Beach weddings can be dreamy and these pictures from Vicky Bekiaridou Photography are the proof! Jayde and Ian created an amazing celebration of love in the beautiful island of Kefalonia that stole their hearts from the very first moment! They wanted to tie the knot with a relaxed and intimate ceremony on the beach with the crystal blue waters and the natural beauty of the island as a backdrop. The wedding was styled beautifully by Mythos Weddings withl opulent greeneries, enhanced with cotton and lavender and wooden romantic details. After their beach ceremony, the couple and their family and friends had a great time, celebrating this special day with a dinner and a fun party afterwards! Take a look inside this beautiful love story in the following shots!
The bride shared with us: “We met through mutual friends on a night out, got chatting & hit it off. Ian proposed in Rome. We were on a family holiday and he was trying to get me on my own all day. He mentioned he had a bit of a surprise, so we finally escaped out to the middle of nowhere to a traditional old style Roman spa. We relaxed here for the afternoon, had dinner and then Ian took me to a secluded room where he brought out a box. He’d mentioned earlier in the day about this place being renowned for their pastry chefs and that guests sometimes get free cupcakes, so I assumed it was a cupcake. I said to Ian it looked like a small box for a cupcake! When I opened the box there was the ring and Ian was down on 1 knee. I was stunned but immediately said yes!”
“I did fall in love with my wedding dress when I tried it on. I knew I wanted something to keep me cool on the beach so loose and flowing. I was quite open to different styles. The store I went to had some fantastically unique dresses. My dress was by Willowby. Its colour was Titanium which I loved as I didn’t see myself wearing traditional white. On the day I got many comments about looking like a Greek goddess which was totally unintentional yet fell in line with our theme of a Greek beach wedding.”
“The ceremony took place in Kefalonia, Lassi. Our first holiday together was to Kefalonia in 2012 – we love Greece but fell in love with this island as it was so beautiful and charming. We always said we wanted to go back so thought where better to get married! We felt a beach wedding would be nice and relaxed and a beautiful backdrop for our big day!”
“The style of our wedding was beach wedding mixed with rustic, boho style. My main color was dusky blue but with a colour palette of pastel/ muted greys, pinks, sage thrown in. As for my flower bouquet, my wedding team picked my flowers which I absolutely loved. I just gave them an idea of what I wanted via Pinterest – I’d mentioned wildflowers and nothing draping/ waterfall style. I’m afraid I’m no good at naming flowers. All I know is that lavender was thrown in with thistle type looking flowers and some delicate white ones among olive leaves, I think. My bouquet was slightly different to my bridesmaids in that it had small balls of cotton wool actually in it.”
“As my wedding was abroad, I sourced a lot of decorations here at home in England and posted over to Kefalonia. The ceremony was at the beach, which was setting enough so not many additional decorations were there. I did have chalk boards, personalised wooden fans for the ladies and a beautiful flower arch which was the centre piece. At the reception I had bunting, paper lanterns and centrepieces were glass bowls filled with sand, shells and a candle in with gypsophelia around. I also had oyster shells hand painted with guests’ names as my name/ place cards in line with the beach theme.”
“The whole day was amazing, but I guess the ceremony itself was my favourite! We made it quite personal with our own vows etc. Just having all our closest friend and family with us to watch us finally say I do was simply beautiful and so memorable.”
Advice to a bride-too-be: “If you have the luxury of affording a wedding planner go ahead! Mythos Weddings were simply fabulous and ensured I had a stress-free day, I entrusted everything to them and the day ran so smoothly. Organisation is key! Also have what you want! It’s easy to try and please others or go for something different to cut costs but if it’s not what you really want don’t do it!”
