We feel pretty lucky to be sharing the captivating images from Vicky Bekiaridou with you today, so without further ado, enjoy Sarah and Ben’s magical forest wedding story below!
The bride shared with us: «We got married in fall, in Kefalonia Island. We met at the University back in 2009 and have been together for 11 years. In 2019, just before the pandemic on Christmas morning Ben asked if I wanted to go for a morning walk with our dog Paddy and asked me to marry him in the middle of a field. It was perfect. I don’t like to be the center of attention, so it was just the two of us with our dog on a brisk winter’s morning».
«I didn’t have a clue what I wanted when it came to decorations, colors, the flowers I wanted. After we decided to get married in Kefalonia we hired Mythos Weddings and it was the best decision. Athina, head of decorations for Mythos, put forward some amazing ideas. She knew the venue and had such amazing ideas for the colors. I knew I wanted it to be colorful, rather than the standard white bouquet. That’s when she came up with the earthy tones, colors of the sunset she called it. It was honestly perfect. It all tied together with the pine forest back drop and rustic feel. The archway she suggested for the ceremony and vintage rug for us to stand on was probably my favorite».
«I wanted a dress simple, light and not restrictive. I think a lot of brides have this happen when they shop for their wedding dress but I came out with something that i didn’t go in for. I originally wanted an A-line floaty dress but I knew when I tried this one on, it was the one for me. I bought it from a small boutique in Pocklington just outside of York in the U.K. called Goldies Bridal. The dress is called Paris and is by Elysee Bridal Design».
«There are so many moments to choose from! The speeches were amazing, I loved the ceremony and having all our closest friends and family there with us but one of my favorite memories from the day was when my husband couldn’t quite manage to cut the cake. Everyone stood around waiting for this symbolic moment and we couldn’t get the slice out of the cake! Athina ended up having to help us».
Bride’s advice: «A lot of brides already have their perfect day planned out, but if you hire a wedding planner (and I would highly recommend Carol from the Mythos Weddings team) my advice would be to trust them. Trust their vision, they know the venues, they’ve done this 100 times before and know what works and what doesn’t. I’m so glad we hired them. The ideas they came up with is something I never would have (maybe if I spent hours on Pinterest) and it turned out better than we could have imagined».
