You are going to love this one!
As the bride mentioned to us: “It all started during the summer of 2004. I was studying in Thessaloniki and I went back to my home in Crete for a summer vacation. I met Chris through my maid of honor. Chris is also from Greek descent and had come to the island for a summer vacation as well. The first night we met, we really didn’t talk at all… We were going out together with mutual friends and slowly we started to have feelings for each other. Within a month we experienced a fiery and an emotional intense relationship. Unfortunately though, we both had to return back to our responsibilities in Thessaloniki and NY respectfully… However we did decide to keep our long distance relationship”.
“While we were living together in New York for a few years, we went for vacation again to Crete and one night I went out with my maid of honor for dinner. I didn’t know at that time that there was a huge surprise planned by Chris… At the end of the night, he came by to pick me up and took me to the place where we first kissed. I remember that is a very warm night and the moon was blue. We drove to Ormos, a place by the sea with a view of the entire city and the only lighting came from the moon itself. We walked towards the edge of the rocks there, just above the sea…”
“While we were talking about our first kiss and we were remembering all those beautiful memories, I suddenly heard guitar music in a distance, playing our favorite song and someone actually singing it. I turn my head and I see my maid of honor and her husband (a professional singer and musician), coming down the mountain hill singing and playing beautiful music! I just stood there trying to figure out what was really happening. When I turned towards Chris, he was already on his knee, holding a beautiful engagement ring. He asked me to be his wife and of course I accepted with tears in my eyes…”.
We asked Sofia to share with us about their best and worst decision they made while planning their chic vintage wedding in Crete: “Everything went smoothly and we didn’t really regret anything. The best decision for Chris was that he arrived at the church by a helicopter and my best decision was my wedding dress choice”.
The chic vintage wedding took place at the Church of Analipsi in Elounda. “The church in Elounda was perfect for us. It is next to the sea and has a spectacular view and untamed beauty”
“As I am a wedding planner in New York, I managed to organize everything by myself in order for everything to go smoothly during our wedding day”
“The best moment for both of us was when we first saw each other at the church. It is a very unique moment… when you start to approach your beloved person at the church… your eyes meet and if feels like there is no one else there except the the two of us!”
The chic vintage wedding in Crete had a vintage lace theme and featured the most romantic details in a white and pastel color combination.
“Some decoration details that we truly enjoyed were the tablecloths that I brought from New York, the floral details on the tables Chris and I designed, the table numbers and the wedding favors that we also created by me”.
The bride’s advice: “The wedding day goes by very quickly and that is why you must try and enjoy every single moment and not let anyone spoil your mood. Having a wedding planner is necessary since there is so much stress involved in a wedding”.
A stunning next day session took place on the breathtaking island of Santorini.
“The wedding dress was a mermaid style gown with lace and featured a sweetheart bodice, an elegant long train and crystal beaded straps. I knew from the beginning what kind of a wedding dress I wanted and due to my profession I knew exactly where to find it. I went Kleinfeld Bridal in New York since it is the largest, best and most known bridal boutique in the United States. I tried on wedding gowns by many bridal designers but when I tried the wedding gown designed by Pnina Tornai, an exclusive designer for Kleinfeld Bridal, this was the dress I really saw myself walking towards Chris at the church in Crete…”
